  • Why should I hire an interior designer?

If you are considering hiring an interior designer, chances are you have already made the decision to invest in your home. My job as an interior designer is to help you invest wisely and avoid costly mistakes and any regretful purchases. I am your trusted design partner whose highest value comes in the form of talent, experience, and ability to conceptualize and design a space based on your style and needs and to deliver a product that far exceeds your expectations and own ability.

  • What makes someone a “good client”?

A client who is enthusiastic about their design and what gets created for them based on their tastes and unique needs is always a pleasure to work with.

A client who is open about themselves along with their needs and challenges. So much of design is problem-solving. An open and trusting client gets the best results.

A client who is receptive to learning. What constitutes a quality piece of furniture? Why certain finishes are the best choices for their home.

A client who is a willing participant in the design process and who is attentive to timelines and requests with the understanding that it will keep their project moving forward.

  • Can homes with children still be beautiful?

Having a beautiful home and having children are two things that can mutually coexist. A home should embrace the fact a family lives there and have elements that can be lovingly broken in but not broken. Functional layouts, storage options, stain-resistant and durable fabrics along with finish choices that embrace some wear and tear can allow a family to be surrounded by beautiful things. You shouldn’t have to wait till the kids are grown to have a beautiful home.

  • Do you design in a certain style?

I don’t have a particular design style or “niche” that I work in. I love to see the world through your eyes and translate that into a design. Design is a conversation where I take your likes and dislikes and develop them into your own personal style. I want to help my clients build a space that works for them and their families, not one that conforms to a specific style, look, or brand. My goal is to design timeless, well-thought-out, and personalized spaces for my clients.

  • How much will my space cost?

That’s hard to pinpoint without more information. I discuss an estimated budget with each client very early on in the process so that there are no surprises. Typical single-room décor projects for us range from $20,000-$50,000. It depends on the size of the space, the level of customization, the quality of furniture and finishes that are specified along with any construction and custom carpentry needs of the project. I’m a big fan of putting a client’s money into the aspects of the room that are most important to them and then budgeting elsewhere in the space.

  • Do you have a waitlist?

This depends on our schedule of current projects but contacting us will allow me to put you on our calendar. I recommend that clients start looking for a designer approximately 2-4 months before they want to start a single space project, 6-9 months before they want to start a kitchen or full bath remodel, and at the same time, they are considering their architect and builder for new construction.

  • Do you give “designer discounts”?

All products sold through my company are priced fairly and competitively. I ask our clients not to focus on furnishing their home at the least expensive price possible, but rather ask them to partner with us on the goal of creating a home that reflects their style and solves their problems using a mutually agreed upon budget.

  • Can I do my own shopping when working with you?

If you happen to find an item you love, of course, we can discuss how it can be a part of your home, but in general, you are hiring me along with my resources to design your space and the best way I can do that is to handle your project as a complete concept. Sit back, and relax, I’ve got this.

  • How do you charge for your services?

Each of our design services has an associated Design Fee, which is a flat fee for the design portion of the project. Typical Design Fees range from 3k-5k for Full-Service Design of a single room project and 4k-7k for kitchen and primary bath projects. The Design Fee is based on the scope of work and the individual needs of each project. Construction and Project Management time is billed at an hourly rate. Procurement of project goods by our firm is priced at designer rates that give you our best possible pricing at the time of purchase.

  • Why do you like being an interior designer?

I have always been intrigued by people and how they live in their homes and by the magic process where the sum of collected elements can create a space that says so much about the people who live there. For me, this is where design lives, in the dig. The process of finding out about you and carrying that information into each aesthetic decision to create a space that you call home.
